Juneteenth
June 16 and 19, 2012
On June 19th, 1865, in Galveston, Texas, Union General Gordon Granger declared,
“The people of Texas are informed that, in accordance with a proclamation
from the Executive of the United States, all slaves are free.”
Join us 147 years later as we celebrate this historic event and the enduring
African American contribution to the George Family Legacy. Observe a re-enactment
of this historic speech, participate in a historic picnic and learn about the
African-American workers who helped shape the Ranch.
We will have Juneteenth celebrations both Saturday June 16th and Tuesday June 19th.
The historic picnic is optional and at an additional cost. Cost for the meal is $12.50 for adults ages 16 and older; $9 for children ages
5-15 and $4 for children 4 and under.
Please call (281) 343-0218 to make reservations for the historic meal.
