Thursday, March 13, 2014

This spring, Uncle Bob Beringer, historical interpreter at the 1890s Sharecropper Farm, hatched his first baby chick.

Uncle Bob has been letting the hens of the Sharecropper Farm keep a few eggs to lay on each spring for the past few years. Until now, he has never had any luck in his chicken hatching endeavors.

“I was hoping the mother hen would keep sitting on her eggs and hatch a bunch of babies for our spring guests to meet, but so far we only have the one baby chick,” said Beringer. “He is cute as a button and all the children want to see him.”

Come out to the George Ranch Historical Park to meet the new arrival!
