Workshop Schedule for Christmas in the Park
Christmas in the Park kicks off on Saturday, December 3! Though most activities (including the hayride, wassail and Treehouse Story Time with Santa) are included with general admission, special holiday workshops will be held every Saturday for those wanting to dive deeper into the Christmas traditions of the many cultures that created Texas!
Cost: $3 per person
Times: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
December 3: German Shoes and Nikolaustag
Learn about the custom of setting out your shoes for St. Nicholas to fill with candy while making your own felt shoe! You also will get a treat to put in it right away. 1860s Ryon Prairie Home.
December 10: Victorian Keepsakes
Make your own box to house a treasure or to present that special gift in. Decorate it just like the British did with seashells, buttons, ribbons, and whatever else you fancy! 1890s Davis Victorian Mansion.
December 17: Luminaria
Create your own Christmas lights and learn about a Mexican tradition that has brightened the holiday season for over 400 years. 1830s Jones Stock Farm.
December 20-23: Wycinanki
Decorate your home with brilliant bouquets with the traditional Polish skill of paper cutting! 1890s Sharecropper Farm.
