Heritage Trail

Take a trip back in time and explore the newly opened Heritage Trail. The Heritage Trail is an all-weather handicap accessible trail between the 1860s and the 1890s Sites which explores the relationship between the early Texas pioneers and the land they settled. Learn how the early settlers adapted to this new, fertile land while enjoying the rich variety of Texas wildlife living in and around Dry Creek. American Alligators, Red-eared Sliders and magnificent Great Blue Herons are only a few of the animals who call this area home.

Also, be sure to keep an eye on the Prairie Restoration Project at the trail entrance in the 1890s area. This three year project will have several stages, but a year into the project, the newly planted seeds are sprouting a variety of gorgeous native Texas plants.
