Sharecropper Plays Santa

Friday, December 6, 2013

Best known as “Uncle Bob”, Bob Beringer portrays the 1890s Sharecropper at the George Ranch Historical Park for most of the year. When Christmas rolls around, Uncle Bob becomes Santa Claus. He makes special appearances for children visiting the George Ranch Historical Park during December holiday activities.

This year, Beringer is competing in the facial hair contest during Dickens on the Strand in Galveston, Texas. “How cool would that be for the Ranch to have an award-winning beard on their staff? It’s kind of a strange bragging right, but it’s a bragging right none-the-less,” said Beringer. His goal is to have fun and meet other history enthusiasts at the festival. Placing in the contest would be a bonus.

Visit Uncle Bob at the George Ranch Historical Park this month when attending Campfire Christmas on December 13, 14, 20 & 21, Children’s Campfire Christmas on December 19, or any Saturday when Holiday Craft Workshops are scheduled.
