Cowboys & Cattle
At the cattle complex, men raised in the saddle demonstrate the “cowboy way”—the way it was done long before rodeos made it sport. Cowboys herd, sort and rope cattle every day to administer medicines and to prepare them for market. Visitors to the Working Ranch can learn more about the evolution of ranching methods and techniques, as well as see first-hand the remarkable relationship between cowboys and their horses.
Weather permitting, our daily cattle demonstrations bring you into the world of 1940s ranching operations and may include calf-roping, cattle doctoring and/or sorting. In addition, daily dipping demonstrations in our historic dipping vat provide visitors insight into the Georges’ innovative approaches to ranching and large animal veterinary care.
Demonstrations are held four times daily at the George Ranch!
