Christmas in the Park: A Historic Holiday Experience

RICHMOND — Christmas is coming to the George Ranch Historical Park this month in all of its historical glory. On Dec. 5, 12, 19, 22 & 23, guests will travel through Christmas pasts on a festive hayride (weather-permitting) and explore the customs and decorations of the 1830s through the 1930s. Wassail and spice cookie samples will be available at the 1860s Ryon Prairie Home and special historic activity classes will be held at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. ALSO, don’t miss Treehouse Story Time with Santa Claus at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.! Please note that we are closed Dec. 24-26.

CHRISTMAS IN THE PARK CLASS SCHEDULE:

December 5: Marbled Wrapping Paper
Not satisfied with the patterns you find on wrapping paper? Make your own this year by learning the art of marbling paper.  

December 12: Raffia Leaf Ornament
Use raffia leaves to create a Christmas ornament showcasing a treasured photograph. 

December 19: Chocolate Creams
Nothing says holiday like a tasty treat! Use our wood-burning stove to create chocolate candy from an 1885 recipe.

December 22 & 23: Spool Knitting
Learn how to use a spool to knit your own Christmas decorations.

Cost is $3 per person for each class.
