George Ranch Historical Park Offers Unique Twist on Surviving the Great Outdoors Geared Especially for Dads

Saturday: June 20, 2015 at 11 am and 2 pm

Dad has fixed it, cured it, found it and built it for you all these years, but can he survive on the wild frontier? Don’t chance it! Treat the Dads in your life to a unique experience with a special Father’s Day Frontier Survival Class led by the infamous Henry Jones! When Stephen F. Austin opened up Fort Bend County to American settlers, Henry Jones was one of the first men to take advantage of the opportunity to go to Texas. He knows a thing or two about survival skills, and he’ll be there to guide Dad during this one-of-a-kind class!

Held at the 1830s Stock Farm, Henry Jones will teach Dad the necessary skills such as fire making, hide tanning, and more! The one-hour class will be held at 11 am and 2 pm and is limited to 30 participants for each session, so arrive early. The class is first-come, first-served and included with general admission.

Complete Dad’s historic experience with an 1830s Sharecropper Lunch at 12:30 pm! The historic meal is in addition to general admission but is a perfect compliment to a historic day on the farm. Bring the entire family and spend the day exploring four historic home sites and one family’s journey spanning four generations, plus costumed interpreters, blacksmithing demonstrations, livestock, and more.

Lunch Menu: Deep Fried Catfish, Fried Gizzards, Mixed Greens with Ham Hocks, Dirty Rice, Cracklin’ Bread, Buttermilk Pie, Beverages.
