Student Photography Contest Announced
Student photographers, ages 5 to 17 are invited to enter their favorite photos taken at George Ranch Historical Park in the Student Photography Contest that will help create the Park’s 2014 calendar.
The top four winners in each age group will win a spot in the 2014 calendar, an award certificate and four tickets to the 2013 Texian Market Days on October 25 and 26. One Grand Prize winner will receive all of the above, plus a 2014 calendar featuring all of the winning photos.
Entry forms and official rules packet for the contest can be requested by emailing photocontest@georgeranch.org. Once the form is completely filled out, it can be returned with photos to be submitted for the contest and entry fees. Photos can be emailed in or submitted on a CD. Please keep all files 10 megabytes of smaller and in JPG or JPEG format.
COST
The minimum $5 entry fee pays for one photo submission in each category:
a. 1830s site – The Jones Stock Farm;
b. 1860s site- The Ryon Prairie Home;
c. 1890s site – Sharecropper farm, Blacksmith Shop & Davis Victorian Mansion;
d. 1930s site – George Home & Cattle Complex;
e. Park Nature.
There is no limit to the number of additional photos that can be submitted for $5 each after the first five photos. Please note, a contestant submitting five photos, one taken at each site, will pay an entry fee of $5. However, a contestant submitting five photographs, all of the Jones Stock Farm, will pay an entry fee of $25.
DEADLINE
The deadline for entries and submissions is July 31, 2013 at midnight, so participants are encouraged to get started right away. Visit the George Ranch historical Park during regular operating hours, Tuesday – Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and start snapping some great shots.
