Open to the Public Saturdays 9:00am to 5:00pm
The George Ranch is a living history museum that portrays over 200 years of Texas history through the eyes of one Ranching family. Originally settled in 1824 by Henry and Nancy Jones as part of Stephen F. Austin’s colony, this working ranch stands as a testament to the independent spirit of Texas. Explore what life was like for Texans through the ages and learn about the history of the family that molded the ranch. Enjoy historic home tours, cattle-working demonstrations, a working blacksmith shop and more.
Self-guided tours give guests the freedom to tailor their visit to their specific interests. An overview with exhibits is available in the Visitor Center and all our major historical sites are staffed by trained tour guides. Historic home tours are given throughout the day, and a tram is available for guests to tour at their own pace.
