200th Anniversary

200th Anniversary Celebration

The 200th Anniversary Celebration is a once in a lifetime chance to honor the legacy of The George Ranch in Fort Bend County. It is believed to be the oldest and largest ranch in Texas and home to a legacy herd of longhorn cattle, dating prior to its inception.

The primary mission of The George Ranch is education of students, with over 20,000 attending each year for field trips experiences. All students in Fort Bend County are offered free admission for field trip learning topics including history, art, agriculture, and English language arts. The ranch is also the site of school team photo shoots, cross country track team training, high school proms and more as we fulfill our commitment to teach and enrich youth education.

200th Anniversary celebration activities will include the opening of a new state of the art Visitor Center, a vibrant Black Cowboy Student Education Day, a multi-day sanctioned rodeo event with student education days, and the continuation of the George Ranch Frontier Days. Another point of celebration will be the forming of a new 501c3 charged with managing the 475-acre education space which includes the historic home sites, George Ranch Arena, and social event spaces.

We need your help to create the vision for this momentous anniversary, lay out logistics plans for event success, and raise funds to support student education. We want this to be an event not just for Fort Bend County, but also for key Texas leaders and citizens to celebrate the roots of our state. We hope you’ll join the George Ranch 200th Anniversary celebration team!
